For delivery bookings, call us at 310-869-3341 or complete our quote form.
NOTE: The more complete the information you put in the form, the more accurate our estimate will be. Deposits are required for scheduling purposes.
A quotation is a firm price for the entire job. An estimate is an approximate price based on known and unknown factors like weather delays, fuel consumption, etc.
My service areas are the coastal and inland waters of North America, including Canada and Mexico.
Yes, and have Capt. David Stovall added as an additional insured to your policy.
Yes. A registration from a state or government or a USCG Certificate of Documentation. Documents must be current and prove ownership.
Yes. The most common are BoatUS or SeaTow. I recommend the highest level of membership to cover long distance retrievals.
Power or sail up to approximately 45 meters. If it floats and is seaworthy, I can drive it.
Short trips, yes. Longer voyages depend on the owner’s experience level at sea. Most owners prefer to ride along for a day or two or not at all. Young children are not allowed in any case. Long, off-shore deliveries are generally not pleasure cruises.
This is determined by the size and complexity of the vessel, the length of the voyage, and other factors.
A working autopilot, radar, life raft with current certification or inflatable dinghy, a working VHF radio, engine(s) recently serviced, spares such as engine belts, fuel filters, impellers, etc., working ground tackle (anchor/chain/windlass), and an overall seaworthy condition. In some cases, a satellite phone or communication device is required. I bring my own navigation equipment onboard – an iPad with Navionics software and a satellite receiver. For deliveries over US coastal waters, I strongly recommend a current membership in either SeaTow or BoatUS (gold level). Although most insurance policies cover towing, the owner must pay out-of-pocket upfront for the tow and submit to the insurance company for reimbursement. Short range tows start at about $3,000.
The minimum is a working VHF radio, autopilot, radar, and in some cases a satellite phone or communication device. I bring my own navigation device onboard, an iPad with Navionics software.
Either a life raft with current certification and suitable for the crew size or an inflatable dinghy able to be either launched quickly or to be towed. Other items and systems may be required depending on the situation.
Enough based on the fuel consumption. Funds for the total estimated fuel are supplied to the captain prior to departure. Cash is best as most fuel docks offer cash discounts.
This depends on the weather and sea conditions, safety, and navigation equipment onboard, the expected arrival date, and time constraints.
Weather delays sometimes happen especially on longer voyages. I invoice ½ the full day rate for lay days due to weather, mechanical breakdowns, or other reasons out of the control of the crew.
Minor mechanical issues like replacing impellers, belts, filters can usually be handled by the crew. More intensive repairs not requiring a professional mechanic will be invoiced on an hourly basis at an additional charge.
Sailboat deliveries usually require the use of the motor to get to the destination as soon as possible. If the wind and conditions are right, we will hoist the sail to save fuel.
Provisions, oil, coolant, spare filters and other consumables. Any safety equipment not onboard or expired and any equipment required by the USCG that is not currently onboard.
Any documentation required by the country the vessel is entering must be onboard. I can help you with this.
